Norwich Cathedral was started in 1096 by Herbert de Losinga (The First Bishop Of Norwich), Norfolk flints formed the core of the building, but the white stone for the exterior came from Caen in Normandy.

The Cathedral spire was added by Bishop James Goldwell at the end of the 15th Century (1472-1501). It's top most point is 315ft above the ground and only Salisbury, among british Cathedral's, is taller. To go to the Cathedral's OFFICIAL web site click here.

In the shadows close to the south door there is a simple grave where Nurse Edith Cavell is buried, she was excecuted by the German's in 1915 for helping allied prisoners to escape from occupied Brussels.""
